NFL Playoff Predictions
And the Super Bowl winner is........
With the NFL season set to begin today, it is time for some playoff projections. Who will reign supreme when it's all said and done? That's the easy part to answer. The true test of a sports blogger's mind is predicting all the playoff teams, including the wild card teams. Every year I set out to accomplish the perfect post-season prognostication, and every year I come up with some right, some wrong, and some not even close, and yet each September, I have to take the challenge again as new ideas, new players and coaches add to the puzzle that for one reason or another, has escaped my brain.

Let's start with the AFC: Division winners will be the Patriots, Bengals, Broncos and Texans with the Raiders and Ravens getting the wild card slots. AFC Championship: Patriots over the Texans AFC Thoughts: Peyton Manning will make the playoffs interesting but will lose to Tom Brady in Foxboro. In my opinion, the Texans have the best chance of upsetting the Patriots, and possibly would if they were playing in Houston, but my mind says cold New England weather does in Andre Johnson and Arian Foster while Tom Brady and Co. have an easier than expected route to the Super Bowl. |
The NFC Division winners will be the 49ers, Packers, Eagles, and Saints with the Bears and Cowboys getting the wild card slots.
NFC Championship: Packers over the 49ers NFC Thoughts: The Bears are real close and perhaps next year they will overtake Green Bay for the division and not have to play a wild card game, but this year they exit early. The Eagles have the talent to go far, but a couple of key injuries will cost them again. Drew Brees gets the Saints close but their defense will hurt them this year. I would love to take the 49ers all the way to a title but playing in Lambeau Field in January will be the nail in the coffin for them. |
Super Bowl championship- Packers over the Patriots
It will be fun to check back after the playoffs to see how close (or how far) I was with my picks.
